Doug Plasencia To Lead Moffatt & Nichol Water Practice
Long Beach, California, May 3, 2017 – Doug Plasencia, P.E., CFM has recently joined Moffatt & Nichol to lead its Water practice. Mr. Plasencia has over 30 years of leadership experience in water resources within the public and private sectors. His policy expertise has been called upon by Congress, federal agencies, and the Executive Office of the President. He has served as a panel member of several National Academy of Sciences studies, and as an active member of the FEMA Advisory Board. Mr. Plasencia will continue serving as the President of the ASFPM Foundation (Association of State Floodplain Managers), an organization that is furthering policy development, research, and the education of the next generation of students and leaders in the field.

As Practice Leader, Mr. Plasencia is responsible for the strategic growth of Moffatt & Nichol’s water practice with specific focuses on water resources, coastlines, and the waterfront environment. His efforts will include supporting the company’s traditional strength in coastal engineering applications and expanding its offerings in water supply, flood protection, community resilience and urban flood mitigation, stormwater, and the integration of multi-use restoration projects that balance resilience and ecosystem management objectives. Mr. Plasencia will interact with all 34 Moffatt & Nichol’s offices in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Latin America and be part of the firm’s senior strategy and management teams.
