An international Terminal Operator engaged Moffatt & Nichol to evaluate the potential for expansion at a West Africa multi-purpose port.
Moffatt & Nichol undertook an in-depth market study focused on the regional cargo market. The outcome was used by the client to steer their strategic decisions.
The study was produced through a combination of inland transport modelling and stakeholder engagement and desktop research. It provided a macro-economic review and outlook for West Africa, including an economic outlook to 2048. In addition, competitor ports were assessed in terms of the container and non-container markets at an alternative port and regional level, with volume outlook for both containers and non-containers also forecasted to 2048.
Our in-house Network Analyst tool was used to identify the portโs non-container hinterland markets, supply chain bottlenecks and constraints, and future developments that could develop hinterland and intermodal connectivity.
