Moffatt & Nichol was appointed as commercial and technical advisors for sell side transaction for DCT Gdansk in Poland.
The market and commercial analysis focused on prospective growth opportunities for the port, both through established business and organic growth, other areas considered were cargo growth potential for the wider region and hinterland and the potential this held for the port.
The analysis involved a detailed assessment of the portโs current position, how it was served from a liner shipping perspective, and how carrier strategies could change in the future and impact the port and its volumes. A key element was a cost-benefit analysis to illustrate the advantages of using one port over another when serving specific hinterland locations from various global regions. A set of independent volume and revenue projections was produced.
The technical scope included an evaluation of the current site conditions and operational performance, with a focus on future operational improvements and the Capex profile required to service the projected cargo growth.
Providing continued support through the sale process, the transaction was sold in March 2019 to a consortium of investors in a deal work more than US$1.3 billion.
