With a partnership spanning over three decades, Moffatt & Nichol has played a key role in the long-term development of Cartagenaโs Contecar and Manga Terminals. Today, Contecar stands as the most efficient port in the Americas and ranks fifth among the most efficient ports in the world, according to the World Bank and Standard & Poorโs.
Moffatt & Nichol delivered a comprehensive master plan to guide the phased expansion across the Contecar and Manga terminals, supporting Sociedad Portuaria Regional de Cartagenaโs (SPRCโs) vision to increase capacity to over 4 million TEUs annually. This multi-phase program included dredging, land reclamation, berth extensions, site stabilization of challenging soils within former dredged placement areas, and yard infrastructure to support RTG operations.
Moffatt & Nichol has provided project management, planning, engineering design, and construction consultation throughout the development of Contecar Terminal and the redevelopment of Manga Terminal including strategic advice. We continue to provide planning support and strategic development of the Grupo Puerto de Cartagena Terminals.
With a total investment of over $750 million in civil works and equipment, this project reflects our continuous commitment to SPRCโs growth and to the continued advancement of Colombiaโs port infrastructure.
